Our Classes
Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) & AED
Simply put; this 4-6 hour course provides all skills required in the recognition, and treatment of a cardiovascular, or choking emergency. These critical interventions can, and must be performed prior to the arrival of emergency services. Includes Automated External Defibrillation (AED).

Emergency First Aid & CPR / AED
This is a full day course which includes Basic Life Support as well as supplemental skills to recognize additional injuries or illness. Emergency First Aid & CPR (A) is an OH&S requirement for workplaces in Nova Scotia.

Standard First Aid & CPR / AED
This 2-day course provide a basic overview of life threatening emergencies (as above) and also demonstrates how to treat many common and potentially threatening conditions. This course includes everything from head injury and fracture, to burns and childbirth.

Child Care First Aid & CPR / AED
This 1 or 2 day course provides an overview of First Aid & CPR techniques for individuals who care for babies or children at home and in the workplace. In addition to Basic Life Support, we discuss injury and illness common in children, as well as equipment safety, and fire prevention. This is course of choice for Early Childhood Educators.

Marine Basic First Aid & CPR / AED
This 2-day course meets Transport Canada training program standards in Marine First Aid (TP 13008E) as well as federal regulations for Standard First Aid and CPR. The course covers the skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies for all age groups; CPR Level C; and other topics including choking, airway and breathing emergencies, as well as prevention of disease transmission.

Marine Advanced First Aid & CPR / AED
This 5-day course, is pursuant to regulations established by the Government of Canada. Includes all skills and theory taught to First Responders (below) as well as additional information for the marine community.
Meets Transport Canada / STCW Regulations

First Responder (FR)
First Responder is a comprehensive 5-day (40-Hour) program customized for first responders managing the scene of an emergency. First Responders are trained to become "critical thinkers" - ready to put their skills into decisive action. Provincially, Emergency Health Services NS conducts complimentary MFR refresher training for registered members. The provincial government, through its medical director, supports the standard and signs cards providing medical control. Includes CPR (HCP) & AED

Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)
Emergency Medical Responder is a highly technical 10 day (80-Hour) program that is customized for those individuals directly involved in emergency patient care (firefighters, police, military, SAR etc...) The course is designed to meet National Occupational Competency Profiles set forth by the Paramedic Association of Canada (PAC). The provincial government, through its medical director, supports the standard and signs cards providing medical control. Includes CPR (HCP) & AED

5-day upgrade (from MFR) - $400.00

First Aid Instructor (Train the Trainer)
This 4-day (32 hour) course provides candidates with the knowledge and skills necessary to teach Canadian Red Cross first aid and CPR courses. The candidates must have finely tuned first aid and CPR technical skills, and are required to undergo pre-course testing.
Cost: $350.00
Prerequisites:
- Hold a current Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid & CPR certificate or equivalent certificate with proof of CPR-HCP level
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Successfully completed a pre-course knowledge and skills test

Workplace Hazardous Materials Info System (WHMIS):
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) provides participants with an understanding of identifying and learning about hazardous materials in their workplace. The course covers labels, material safety data sheets and highlights what workers must do to protect themselves from hazmat.

Confined Space Entry
This 1.5 day course combines classroom knowledge with practical training involving the actual equipment used to work safely in confined spaces. The course is designed to educate the participant on the recognition of a confined space, the hazards associated with entry and the safe work practices necessary to prevent injury, loss of life, environment and production.

Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)
Course length as required. SCBA training is provided to workers or entrants to spaces that are IDLH (Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health) as a result of low oxygen levels or contamination by chemicals. The system consists of a back pack mounted air cylinder, with a working time of 30 minutes, and a mask mounted regulator providing breathing air to the wearer. This equipment is for limited time entries and is used for inspection work and fire fighting. Depending upon the user the working time may be for less than 30 minutes.

Fall Arrest
This one day program is designed to educate participants about the regulations and situations requiring fall protection. The course involves practical training with a variety of fall protection equipment and can be tailored to include an on-site component.

Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
This is a one day course designed to familiarize participants with legislation, the nine classifications and general requirements related to the transportation of dangerous goods. Packaging requirements, safety, markings and documentation responsibilities are all components of the course.

Portable Fire Fighting Equipment Training (PFFE)
This half-day course is designed to satisfy the basics of fire safety. Participants are taught the principles of fire behavior, the types of fires they may come in contact with, as well as the appropriate control measures for each situation.
